Sophie is a qualified UK and European patent attorney specialising in the areas of biotechnology and life sciences. She has particular expertise in immunotherapy, antibodies, cancer therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics, and has worked with a array of clients ranging from first-time inventors, start-ups and SMEs to large established companies and foreign partners.
Sophie acts before the UKIPO, EPO and WIPO. Her work includes drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, and matters relating to intellectual property due diligence. She focuses on providing clients with commercially relevant, pragmatic advice consistent with their business objectives and proactively coordinates the strategic planning and management of clients’ patent portfolios.
Sophie completed her first-class degree in pharmacology at the University of Bath. As part of her studies, she worked for a year at UCB, a leading biopharmaceutical company. She then completed her PhD in metabolic biochemistry at University College London. Her research focused on the genetic and biochemical mechanisms responsible for the central folate deficiency associated with mitochondrial diseases.
